This paper mainly discuss about the musical achievement of mingqing kun song, 'xixiangji' , in order to have a initial research into the kun song and a better understanding of its historical development and value in music. This paper is divided into five chapters and twelve sections. In Chapter One 'Introduction' , I have a thorough study on the purpose, significance, range, content and method of the research. Chapter Two 'History' describe the prosperous development of 'xi' in contemporary social environment. In Chapter Three 'The Name of Tune' , I summarize the features of the tune and its source. It can be traced to the same origin of the former music. In Chapter Four 'Feature' , I summarize the feature of musical tone and chorus. It can be easily come to the conclusion that 'xi' had a highly achievement in music and had some successful experiences of others to go by. Chapter Five 'Type of Role' , mainly discuss the figure of 'danjue' and 'shengjue' , as well as the use of tune, 'xi' ' s beautiful performance make itself become one of the classical works in the history of Chinese ancient opera.
