On Translation Of Chinese Political News

This thesis runs its systematic discussion on the translation of Chinese political news with three main emphases: first, the need to understand the significance of Chinese-English political news translation as an independent subject for the translators of our time; second, the features of political news, either linguistic, stylistic or in terms of the cultural discrepancy, which make the translation process difficult yet interesting—this is the foundation for the translators'critical thinking; third, how to apply the general translation methods in political news translation while taking its own features into consideration( as a further step forward from the second point). A number of real examples from both domestic and foreign media are invited to give the readers a comparative study to better understand the principles of political news translation in a practical way. The translated versions are provided for discussion which may lead to the readers'further exploration beyond this thesis.
