Contrastive Study Of Address Forms

The address form is an important linguistic category in verbal communication. In recent years, scholars in the linguistic field home and abroad have made a deep research on the address form. But, the contrastive study of address form in English and Chinese is not enough. To enrich the linguistic study and help the readers better understand the address form, the author makes a comparatively thorough study on it.The whole thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, In this chapter, a brief introduction is made to the current study of address forms with various achievements by linguists. Chapter two is about the definition, main features and categories of the address forms. In Chapter three, the author makes a study on the theories related with address forms. Chapter four is the key point of this thesis, which is mainly about the contrastive study of address form in English and Chinese. Chapter five is the conclusion of the whole thesis. This thesis is of great significance to the further study of address forms. What's more, it can provide enlightment and guidance for the C-E/E-C translation, English communication and EFL teaching.
