Reading is one of the four essential language skills——listening, speaking, reading and writing. For college students, reading is a key to success in their higher education. Reading can build one's vocabulary and make a person write better. Reading provides the opportunity to learn new knowledge and to acquire new skills. So, improving reading comprehension is the important purpose of English learning.Because traditional comprehension practices place the teacher firmly at centre stage, all power and control are in the hands of the teacher. The teacher chooses the texts; set the learning activities; and even decides what the meaning is that student should acquire as part of the reading process. Under the traditional comprehension, there are rare interactions or communications between students and teachers, between students and students. The students'attitude towards to their teachers characterized by respect, obedience and reliance. If we want to develop the competence of students who are committed to learning, who delight in the experiences they share within school, then we need to show them how they can take control of their own learning. As language teaching has become more learner-focused, students are asked to self-direct the language learning process and become less dependent on the teachers. Most linguists agree that it is very important to improve the learners with the necessary strategies of learning and problem solving.We all notice that under the same language teaching conditions, there are great individual differences in achievements of study. The achievements are determined by the learners'choice of learning strategies, and adjust one's learning strategies consciously is the key of achieving success. According to reading process, we want to know whether the reading strategies can influent one's reading achievement or not? What differences relating to reading strategies exist between good and poor readers?The purpose of my study attempts to investigate the relationships between reading strategies and reading achievements, and the differences in using reading strategies between good readers and poor readers in a text reading. This thesis consists of four parts.Part One: Literature Review. Summarize general review of the EFL learning Strategies in this part, and discuss the definitions and classifications of language learning strategies. In addition, the comparative studies of the good and poor learners also summarize in this part.
