Ernest Hemingway and Lu Xun are both litterateurs of global recognition; one is the spokesman for the Lost Generation and the other is considered as father of modern Chinese literature; they made great contributions to the literature around the world.Ernest Hemingway's career, from the twenties to the sixties of the 20th century, almost paralleled the popular ideology—existentialism. The First World War left him unappeased wound and the prevailing existentialism influenced him greatly. Therefore, Hemingway presented us with the suffering fantastic world of existentialism.And Lu Xun, the pioneer of contemporary and giant boosting the development of society, undeniably first captured the contemporary senses. In the early 20th century, Lu Xun was sensitive and identified to the existentialism, Lu Xun showed up the hint of existentialism from the beginning of his novel creation.The Sun Also Rises was Hemingway's first novel. It established Hemingway's literary reputation and public fame among all Hemingway's works. The Sun Also Rises is a dramatic literary event, and its impacts have remained over years. In many ways, the protagonist Jake Barnes is a typical member of what Gertrude Stein the poet called the "Lost Generation," the generation of men and women whose experiences in World War I undermined their belief in justice, morality, manhood, and love.Lu Xun is considered as the father of modern Chinese literature, and his influence on china's cultural, literary, and artistic life over the last eighty years is inestimable. He reaches the peak of his literary career with the publication of The True Story of Ah Q. It is already eighty-three years since Lu Xun wrote this great work in modern China, whose echoes can still be heard both at home and abroad.
