Yan Yanzhi was the greater poet in Liu-song Dynasty, and was called "Yanxie" combined with Xie Ling_yun. Yan Yan_zhi was well-known by his "Ode variety" poetry, ornate diction and literary quotation were notable characteristics of his poetry. The article tried to resolve the questions based on the published results. Firstly, exploring the causes and psychology of Yan Yan_zhi' "Ode variety" poetry from his Confucianism. Secondly, probing into how Buddhism and Metaphysics influenced upon his personality and composition, and finding out Yan Yan-zhi often meditated on the past in his poetry. Thirdly, By dividing Yan Yan-zhi' poetry into social and personal poetry, penetrating into how "flagging brocades" and "self-admiration" incarnated in his poetry. Finally, citing the "sanguan" doctrine put forward by Shen Ceng_zhi to explain "erudite poetry" of "Yanxie", and analyzing how "Yuanjia Guan" taked shape and died out from the evoloement of poetry history before Liu-song Dynasty.
