American Western Fictions reflecting the historical process of Westwood Movement have constituted the important part of American Literature. The important meaning of them is being gradually recognized. American author, the works of Conrad Richter, The Awakening Land, is one of them. This essay chooses it to be researched and tries to tell out the relationship of nature and civilization in it by comparing it with other classic western fiction .So the essay can prove the special value of The Awakening Land.This essay is divided into five aspects: the relationship of wild west and agrarian west; the relationship of nature and civilization in agrarian west; the crash of western agrarian civilization and eastern civilization; the meaning in the contrary result of the ideal of Westwood Movement; the relationship of nature and civilization in activity of social organization and political system construction.
