It is also good to master the thought background and spiritual clues of the people in certain period. The thesis deals with "'suffering model of hero" in the Red Classics. Guided by narratology and social psychology, it analyzes the hero narrative through close reading.The whole thesis consists of three parts. The first part is the instruction, which argues the significance of choosing "suffering" as a perspective. The second part is the body of thesis, composed of four chapters. Chapter 1 examines the important cultural factors that lead to suffering model of hero in the environment, included war cultural psychology, collectivism cultural atmosphere and moral idealism three parts. War happened frequently in China in the 21 century, and it had direct and significant influence on people's consciousness structure. It led to a collective spiritual atmosphere and constructed individual psychology features. Advocating heroism and idealism is an idealistic strategy, in order to make people endure pain and death. Chinese traditional Confucianism has a tendency of moral idealism, obtaining kindness by necessary sacrifice. It has been given new connotation in the new period. Socialism ideology regards communism and collectivism as value orientation. Hero in the Red Classics reflects this feature. They suffer a lot and devote everything to the lofty ideal.Chapter 2 to Chapter 4 explain the thoughts connotation and narrative of the model from body suffering, family/revolution ethics transformation and death worship three parts, combining the Red Classic works as instance. Body suffering is a metaphor about spiritual growth of hero and body punishment has become a path of being and proving oneself for the revolutionary. In the revolutionary words, family is always victim. Family ethics is instead by revolutionary ethics. Death has been given lofty implication. It is the top ideal of the revolutionary. Death of body means athanasia of spirit. The third part is the conclusion. The formation of suffering model of hero in the Red Classics has profound history and cultural causes, and has become an important feature of revolutionary hero. It is the only way to hero's growth and realizing one's ideal. The sacrifice philosophy advocated by this suffering model finally leads to severe loss of individual value words.
