Adorno's Analysis On Anti-Semitism

Anti-Semitism always as a social phenomenon which keep up with the development of modern western civilization from beginning to end, especially the "Auschwitz" has become an everlasting uncased nightmare for many philosopher. Why the spirit of enlightenment that took the aim to pursuing liberation and set up the modern civilization character rationality autonomy non-coercion had been swept into the inhuman plight and this plight had been engendered the whole discrimination and the collective slaughters for a whole Jewish nationality and announced oneself already moved towards the dead end. Persisted criticizes awakens the populace, take liberates as the theory objective the society criticizes theory to enforce asking facing such, naturally cannot be aloof. Horkheimer and Adorno promise the famous work which cooperates in them Dialectic of Enlightenment attempts through the analysis enlightenment and it's the dissimilation condition replied above has doubts. Afterwards, Adorno promise in a book named The Authoritarian Personality through the social psychology experience to support the critique theory type analysis which analysis the principle modern root on anti-Semitism.This paper mainly discusses Adorno's the theory exploration on anti-Semitism. Emphasis in Dialectic of Enlightenment and The Authoritarian Personality which center the critique type analysis on anti-Semitism. Adorno has analyzed Europe anti-Semitism from two angles of view, one is Dialectic of Enlightenment obtains from the critique theory to the enlightenment concept analysis; relate anti-Semitism and the reconsidering modern civilization together to discover modern root on anti-Semitism. One is in The Authoritarian Personality from the social psychology angle analysis psychological root. The experience proof proved anti-Semitism factor generally exists in the modern society. Said on the first angle, Adorno thought must be connected between anti-Semitism and gloomy history of enlightenment from the point of the human thinking process, especially from the birthplace of enlightenment—myth. According to Adorno's view, enlightenment has not been released from entanglement of myth; their correlation was "conspired". Because enlightenment was controlled by identity principle and this is the immanent principle of enlightenment. Identity principle has become an abstract identity principle which as a compelling and systematic identity. As an result, controlled by a compelling and systematic identity, the range of controlling has extended to others and aspects of society from the controlling the nature, the rationality has dissimilated into the instrumental reason, all of heterogeneous ingredients have become illegal existence, so all Jew have changed into the "disharmonious tone" of identity logic, in the end they have been compelled to as the sacrificial lamb of "ferrous curtain society". All above mentioned was discussed in his works named Dialectic of Enlightenment, which deeply talk about how enlightenment invert into its inverse and as a result of anti-Semitism. The second, Adorno attempted to discuss anti-Semitism from angle of empiricism; trough standed on criticism of subject and took advantage of social psychology as his mean of criticism, for Adorno anti-Semitism could be explained as a "prejudice" of somebody possesses the authoritarian personality.
