Communication theories in college English teaching are a domain worthy to be penetratingly explored. Based on the communication theories of conversational implicature by Grice, speech acts by Austin, and relevance theory as well as the data analysis from a questionnaire, this thesis is thoroughly dedicated to the study of a teaching model in college English. The main purposes of the study are to justify how to turn the lecture style into communication form in English class so as to improve students'communicative competence, how to integrate types of communication in our daily life with English teaching in order to encourage real language use. What's more, an effective and feasible teaching model, communication-interaction model, has been presented. This model can be divided into 3 phases: (1) language input in order to develop the learners'receptive skills. In this phase two elements are included, one is the teacher's guide-learning , the premise of the model and the other is autonomous learning, the basis of the model; (2) communicative output for learners to acquire productive skills. Cooperative learning----the key of the model and communicative competence----the aim of the model are enclosed in this phase; (3) evaluation to check both the receptive and productive skills in English teaching and learning. Besides, it's demonstrated that in the model the relationship among the three phases are closely related and mutually dependent. The input phase lays a foundation for the output phase while the latter is the extension of the former. And evaluation can direct and modify the first two phases. The final goal of language learning is to communicate with others. Similarly, it's the primary aim to foster students'communicative competence in English...
