while people are explaining Journey to the West, they will have varieties of opinions. The author thinks Journey to the West is a great work.: The novel happened in the critical period of age changing. The novel writer expresses his opinion of blaming the emperor and reproaching the religions for the sake of life by this fairy tale and seeks the consciousness of religion. This paper explores the novel writer's mental procedure and discusses the novel topic.This paper focuses on exploring the mental procedure started from Han dynasty when Chinese learned from the west, analyses the Chinese societies and western religion's influence on the forming of the novel. The author then focuses on analyzing the situation of society and religion and the streams of thought. The novel's writer created the story of Journey to the West to express his inner erxpectation. Tang seng is the symbols, he represents the grace, kindness of the religions and disability. Sunwukong's birth from stone also has strong religious significance. Sun is the symbol of the opinions and style of the intellects. Sun is a image out of his age, he represent the imported power. 'Jin gu zhou'(a spell to make Sun headache)is not the symbol of the feudalism's power but a magic weapon to control Sun.
