China had attached herself to modern times since Opium War and had been confronted with modernity problems from then on. After the first world war, problems confronted by china were even more prominent. It was just at the May 4th Movement period and it was lively in domestic ideological sphere. The ideologists put forward all kinds of proposition on china's modernity construction. In the 1920s, Zhu Qianzhi's "Philosophy of Emotionalism" was a highlight in that period."Emotion" is the most critical concept in Zhu's "Philosophy of Emotionalism". It is seemed as the reality of the universe and could only be hold by intuition. He debases reason and critic the scientism. Besides, he advances social opinion from his philosophy ideas. The two aspects supplement each other and embody the pursuit of the "Emotionalism Freedom".Zhu's "Philosophy of Emotionalism" is divided into two phases: the earlier period and the later period. And each period is reviewed in both philosophy and social aspects. These match the first to the forth chapter : the first chapter inquires into thephilosophy aspect of earlier "Philosophy of Emotionalism"-------"Nihilism", thesecond chapter focus on the social aspect------"Anarchist with Nihilism"; the thirdchapter inquires into the philosophy aspect of earlier "Philosophy of Emotionalism"——"the Fluxion of Emotion", the forth chapter focus on his future social blueprint------"Great Harmony". The fifth chapter summarizes and points out the pursuit of the "emotionalism freedom", which is a critic on rationalism.Zhu Qianzhi's "Philosophy of Emotionalism" is a design on china's modernity, which bases on humans natural emotion rather than reason, differing from western modernity. Zhu Qianzhi shows consideration on humanity and freedom in his "Philosophy of Emotionalism" , and his design gives us some advise in constructing china's modernity.
