The Research Of Ji Yongren And His Opera

As an important opera author in the beginning of Qing dynasty, Ji Yongren is special for his own creative style and substance, as well as his personal experience and time background. From this point, this thesis takes Ji Yongren's opera as the main object to research. We can find the cause and several influential factors of shaping his style through analysis about his life experience and thoughts in a detailed way. Thus we can further understand Ji Yongren's status and contribution in the opera circle of earlier Qing dynasty. Meanwhile it provides reliable examples and evidences for us to make the developing clue of opera in earlier Qing dynasty clear.The first part of this thesis resolves many problems about Ji Yongren's life experience, works and edition which are not resolved for a long time in history, according to Ji Shi Zong Pu which I discovered. The second part is proceeding from time background and taking his poems and articles as the research object, and connecting his uneven life experience to analyze the multi-aspects and complication of his thoughts, mind and selfhood. The third part analyzes the speciality of his opera's content and style taking Xu Li Sao and Dream of Yangzhou as examples. The forth part reveals that Ji Yongren combinates literator's culture and common people's culture as heritage of opera writing tradition, which displays Ji Yongren's significance and contribution to opera circle of earlier Qing dynasty more clearly.This thesis is not only a settlement of historical materials about Ji Yongren, but also a comparative systematic research on his opera works. Meanwhile, It also provides persuasive examples and evidence for the discussion about developing condition of opera in earlier Qing dynasty through investigating in his writing process. As one of the most three talented opera authors, Ji Yongren's status deserves more attention and further research.
