Over the last few decades, the study of metaphor has received a tremendous boost with the rise of cognitive linguistics. Metaphor has moved from the status of subsidiary concern to the status of a central problem. "We are in the midst of a metaphormania" (Mark Johnson 1981)Chinese scholars have put great attention to the phenomenon of Synaesthesia. The argument of whether Synaesthesia is one of the rhetoric has remained till now. However, when we look more closely to synaesthesia, we will find fundamentally it is a psychology phenomenon. And when we compare the language form of synaesthesia, we will fnd that it has different types like metaphor has. And the cognitive system of synaesthesia is the same as that of the metaphors', both on the base of similarity. So we can draw such a conclusion that in the language, synaesthesia is one of the metaphors. Synaesthesia itself doesn't have the qualification of becoming one type of rhetoric. The application of synaesthesia is very useful in commercial advertisements.
