| As a significant part in the career of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in China, the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) shoulders a heavy burden of the specific obligation and responsibility. The examination is a test of the teaching and learning achievements and it makes the direct sense for both the teachers and the students, especially in the advanced HSK. With the vigorous development in the career of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, HSK is faced with an entirely new opportunity of development in the present situation at home and abroad. Confronted with the brand new situation, lots of scholars begin to think and explore the ways for the reform and the development. The departments, such as the Office of the State Committee for the Chinese Proficiency Test (OSCCPT) and the HSK Testing Administration Center, have already commenced the correcting work for the HSK.We should make an overall analysis and have an explicit understanding for the original HSK when we mention the reform. Through the collection, arrangement and the research on the Chinese and foreign documents of the pedagogy, educational psychology, teaching methodology, linguistics, testing, etc, the theoretical basis for the research is established. Through the collection and arrangement of the HSK test questions, the analysis of the language materials selection and the test questions design, and the summary of the language acquisition theory and the test program, this paper is devoted to making a profound research on the advanced HSK reading test, mainly with the logical methods of induction, deduction, analysis and synthesis, and the scientific research methods of education, such as the methods of the content analysis, experience summary and comparison. Furthermore, this thesis proposes to replace the writing examination of HSK with the Internet examination. Hopefully it could be of some help for the reform of the HSK.This paper is mainly divided into six parts:Introduction: This Chapter is devoted to discussion in two parts. Firstly, the relationship between language testing and language teaching will be elaborated and the main purpose and sense of this research will be pointed out. Secondly, the train of thought and the methods of this research will be illustrated.Chapter One General Overview of HSK: There are three sections in this chapter. The first section is to introduce the characters of HSK. The second section is to elaborate the features of HSK and the third one is to introduce the primary reform achievements of the present HSK briefly. The readers can have an explicit understanding for HSK and its development course and present situation with the introduction in this chapter.Chapter Two the Design Principle and the Examination Paper's Structure of the Advanced HSK: This chapter is comprised of two sections. Section One is concerned with the design principle of the advanced HSK. Section Two is devoted to the examination paper's structure of the advanced HSK. The design of the test questions and its relative issues of the advanced HSK will be displayed clearly before the readers with the discussion in this chapter.Chapter Three the Reading Test Theory of the Advanced HSK: As an important part in the thesis, this chapter is mainly divided into two sections. The first section will mainly elaborate the relationship between the reading and HSK and put forward the corresponding theories. The second section will mainly clarify the regulations for the reading test from the perspective of practice.Chapter Four the Design and the Testing Method of the Reading Test Questions in the Advanced HSK: This chapter is also a vital part of the thesis and it will be devoted to discussion in two sections. The first section will mainly discourse two important points in the design of the reading test questions in the advanced HSK—the selection of the reading materials and the investigated ability and the inquiring angle of the reading test questions. The second section will sum up the reading test method and type of the present advanced HSK.Chapter Five the Improvement and Development Direction of HSK: This chapter includes two parts. The first part will introduce the relative correcting work of the present HSK in detail. The second part will elaborate the limitations of HSK's writing examination at first and then put forward the present author's assumption of the Internet examination of HSK. |
