Peter Carey (1943- ) is one of the most important writers in modern Australia; his novels have very strong postcolonial characteristics and subversive tendency. In one of his best works, Oscar and Lucinda, the author through narrating the love story between Oscar and Lucinda, reveals such a fact: that the Empires is built on the killing of the Aboriginal people and the destruction of the Aboriginal culture. The present thesis aims to analyze the novel under the postcolonial context from the three perspectives of themes, characters and narrative techniques, and to learn how it achieves the purpose of exposing the lies of the Empire's history.
