Language attitude is a term that belongs to the category of social psychology. Modern social psychology believes that one's subjective attitude has a determinate influence over his behavior in social life: since the use of language is a social behavior, language attitude of this social psychological factor is bound to have a profound impact upon its users'language ability and language performance.The survey aims to provide an overview of college students'language levels as well as their assessment upon our mother tongue and English, and the main factors that affect their language behaviors—whether emotional or cognitive. Students'remarks on the future of English study are mainly based on the powerful economic and political status of the English-speaking countries. From the aspect of a language's compatibility, English, undoubtedly, is"strong"language in today's society, by contrast, Chinese, is in a disadvantaged position.In language attitude, emotional factors play a major role, which could even determine one's behavioral tendencies. Although college students tend emotionally to our mother tongue, in the actual language acts, most people choose English. As a result, it has caused a large number of so-called "dummy English" and "dumb English" learners. While the input of foreign language education is astonishing, the outcome of the investment is not proportionate. As the entire society increases investment in education in English, foreign educational institutions have earned huge profits.The national decline in the quality of our mother language has drawn widespread attentions. How to learn our mother tongue well and how to strengthen our Chinese education has become a great issue before us. Language policy, especially teaching in Chinese-language will greatly contribute to the loyalty to the native language. To enhance the influence over emotional factors in students behavior, the efforts could be made from the following several aspects: proposed mother tongue's day; Mandarin should be strengthened by certificates; create a good language environment, the increase in Chinese internal and external propaganda; exporting products brochure annotated with Chinese characters, and international business negotiations sought negotiations with the Chinese side presented the text in Chinese.To evaluate the language status, efforts from the entire community and all the participants are required. And the government planning in the language plays a critical role in the following directions: the status of the planning language, including English and the mother tongue status; Language education reform model; reform education and employment examination.To add compulsory course of Chinese language is very necessary.
