Oeken Zaburo acquired the Nobel Literature Prize in 1994. His early works, which may be badly simulated, were heavily affected by the existentialism. But afterwards, the writer assimilated a vatiety of writing skills intermingling with Japen traditional culture and Shikoku forest culture in his works so that his artistic creation became very fluent, smooth and natural. Oeken Zaburo's middle to late works added religion-meditative temperament which is more and more heavily.There's no doubt that existentialism and sex-politics are thesis that researchers have being concerned all long. However, it's not enough to read or interpret the image of the father in Oeken Zaburo's works. This article, basing on this reading and interpretation, is to interpret Oeken Zaburo's works all over again so that something new could be found.Studied horizontally, Oeken Zaburo's works can be divided into two parts, which are fiction works and essays; whereas studied vertically, I personally think that they can be divided into three periods. This article, basing on this division, is to acquire a new explication of the image of the father.The first chapter of this article, is mainly to study the writer's exploration of humanism with the absence of the father. The second chapter is to read and interpret the auther's works which are facing to the predicament of existence.In the third chapter, I try to analyse the image of father in the last period by the works of writer who is waxxing old. Except the exploration of the image of father in this period, I also give a separate paragraph to compare Oeken Zaburo's concept of father's love with LuXun's.I personally think except the existentialism, sex-politics and so on, there are spots still to study, such as the image of father in writer's works. I try to absorb viewpoints there are, and to study it much more deeply in this article.
