China classical traditional opera on preface and postscript, whose content is abundant and comprehensive, and whose quantity is considerable, is the treasure house for the study of the Chinese traditional opera history, the Chinese traditional opera esthetics, the Chinese traditional opera writer, the works creation theory, the regisseur and performance art, and the various music aspects. It is also literature reference of the research on the traditional opera theory criticism history .Therefore, regarding Cai Yi, this dramatist's "Chinese Classical Traditional Opera On Preface and Postscript Assembly" published by Qilu Literary Press in 1989 as original references, this paper makes a relatively systematic research on the Qing Dynasty's traditional opera on preface and postscript. In the form of theory, it makes an all-around research by selecting some materials on the traditional opera on preface and postscript of Qing Dynasty out of ancient theory. Based on its related content as the basic scope, it mainly discusses the writing motive, how to create the script, the dramatic theme and style, the ideological content, the actor's and the director's stipulation of an agreement, the audience's relationship and guidance, the opinion and appraisal of dramatists and their works, the disadvantages and advantages of various editions, the process of narrating emendation, as well as the spread of its works. There involves the choosing standard of those works, the following chapters: First, the motivism; two, the writing theory; three, the critical theory; four, the performing theory; five, the accepting theory. The paper also explains the contribution of the dramatists in the field of preface and postscript traditional opera theory in Qing Dynasty, by narrating its content, comparing its characteristics, elucidating influence and value. Finally, we can present prominent additional clues to the development of the Oing Dynasty traditional opera.
