Yugur Ethnic Group, a particular minority in Gansu province, enjoys a long history and age-old culture. Reputed for a marvelous blossom in the folk music, Folksong of Yugur Ethnic Group has its unique style, abundant genres, national feature, and fullness of rich flavour of life. It glorifies the national life in pure and idiomatic native language and exhibits a "community grass root" and original fascination of mother tongue all along. Nowadays its music rhythm melting traditional melody like fossil with vital personal singing still creates age-old and fascinating masterpiece.In recent years the survival of the Yugur folksong is badly affected by many disadvantages. Based on this, author penetrated into the settlement of the minority and made a filed work of the current situation of the Yugur folksong. It is shown from the investigation that there are some good respects, but all kinds of problems in the current situation of the folksong. The problems conclude: Yugur nationality's language is rapidly dying away; social and economical development takes the extent environment of the Yugur folksong a significant threat; ecological degeneration of grasslands is increasing; and there are few and few folk singers who inherit the folksong. These factors seriously threaten the survival and development of the Yugur folksong. Therefore it is extremely urgent for protection and inheritance of the folksong. The author argues that an effective system inheriting the folksong should be established as soon as possible, and all kinds of inheriting measures should be carried out to make the Yugur folksong carry forward.This paper takes "the current situation and inheritance of Yugur folksong" as a topic.
