Depended on the status and function of force itself, the special treatment and compensation of soldiery is one of a special category of social security. The special treatment and compensation of soldiery is pushed on the basis of Wei-suo system. The paper elaborates the forming, development, contents, the implementing of the issue, and the appraisal is also included. This paper also discusses the relationship between the special care policy and the change of political and financial situation during early-Ming Dynasty.This thesis consists of two parts: the preface and the main body.In the preface, the author attains the meaning of Ancient Chinese special care by studying its developing course, reviews the research condition, and points out the researching target and range of time of the thesis.The first part depicts the forming and development of the special treatment and compensation of soldiery. After analyzing the background of the policy of Early-Ming Dynasty, the author points out the special policy formed on the period of Hongwu and Yongle by and large. And the policy was perfected down the period from Xuande.The second part details the contents of special policy during early- Ming dynasty, which contains special care for the wounded and dead soldiers and their dependants, for persons in active service and their dependants and for the demobilized soldiers.The third part discusses the carrying-out of the policy, and points out the achievements and problems by analyzing its executive institutions and operating process.The forth part involves something about the characters of the policy in Early-Ming Dynasty.The fifth part gives all-sided appraisals to the special care policy during early-Ming dynasty. This thesis points out its properties, status, effects as well as deficiencies from the angle of history.In consequence, the author makes the conclusion that the special care policy must be fit to the economic developing level and financial condition, and meanwhile better material security must be provided with by comparing the policy during early-Ming dynasty with the one during Middle-and-late Ming Dynasty.
