A Study Of Wu Zao's Ci Poems

Wu Zao was one of the influential female literary figures specializing in Ci and Qu in Qing dynasty. Her works include Ci Flower Curtain, Ci Fragrant South Snow North, poem Fragrant South Snow North , opera Profile of Qiao, and other literary forms. This article mainly deals with Ci by Wu Zao based on the previous study , aiming to study the overall cultural background which led to the creation of Wu Zao's Ci. Furthermore, this article also discusses the themes and artistic style of Wu Zao's Ci from the angle of Ci itself.There are four chapters in this paper. The first part, the introduction, deals with the historical and current study of Wu Zao's Ci and tries to show the features and studying purpose of Wu Zao's Ci. In the first chapter, Wu Zao's life story and writing process are presented and discusses the influence of local culture and the Buddhism on Wu Zao's Ci. The female literary figures boomed in Qing dynasty , which is one of the most important backgrounds for the writing of Wu Zao. Chapter two discusses the different connotation of the themes of Wu Zao's Ci in two periods: the beginning and the middle period of Wu Zao writing . There is a strong subjective consciousness in her writing, which is illustrated from four different aspects: the awareness of women of themselves, the awareness of social participation, the awareness of existence, and awareness of struggle for self fulfillment. Chapter three discusses the artistic style of Wu Zao's Ci based on the language , image, style , and artistic conception. Wu Zao's Ci is famous for its beautiful language and diverse style, full of musical and artistic and structural taste . Wu Zao's Ci has profound images which reflect the disposition of Wu Zao . In her writing, dreams , wintersweet, rain, bamboo, wine, flute, and sword are the main artistic conceptions. All this is very important in understanding the profound emotion expressed in her writing. Wu Zao took full advantage of the other writers' merits and put them into her own writing and formed her unique writing style . Chapter four gives a brief analysis and discussion of the other literary works by Wu Zao. The special opera Profile of Qiao is an important literary works to establish her role in literature. Therefore, this writing is mainly discussed here. Wu Zao is a versatile literary figure who expresses herself by Ci, poems, essays , and Qu. Her writing is full of emotion and artistic beautifulness. In conclusion, Wu Zao plays an important role in female literary creation and has a far-reaching influence in literary.
