Zhou Dynasty's ritual music culture is one of the important parts of Chinese national culture. A magnificent pioneering work of Zhou People is integrating rite in the music, and carries out the enlightenment by the music. Confucius was born in the Spring and Autumn Period, he was the faithful follower of the ritual music culture. In all his lifetime,he was carrying on the job of "self-restraint and return to ritual" in order to saves the ritual music culture. Zhou Dynasty's ritual music culture as well as Confucius music thought are mostly seen in "Ritual Records","Zhou rite",""and "Spring and Autumn Period Annalsof Zuo".This article concludes three parts:Part One : The magnificent ritual music system in Zhou Dynasty. It concerns the the ritualorigin, the main content of the ritual music system as well as the social and daily life ritual music activity of Zhou People. The above analysis helps to understand the spiritual style of Zhou people.Part Two : Confucius music thought. It includes Confucius music practice and music thought.Confucius music practice is specially emphasized to prove that Confucius music thought absolutely is not an empty talk, but is the crystallization of music practice as well as the life experience. Confucius music thought includes four parts: the relationship of rite and music, the music esthetics thought of harmony, the court music and the obscene music and the music esthetic standard.Part Three: : The conclusion.
