Luigi Pirandello is a famous dramatist and novelist in Italy. He has forty four plays, more than three hundred short stories, seven novels and two treatises on literary and artistic works. Because he developed vigorously drama art and perform art fearlessly and cleverly, he won the Nobel prize for literature in 1934. People attached more importance to his drama in academic circles. But I think that his fiction is as outstanding as his drama. So I select and analyse his masterpieces. The paper consist of four parts. Part 1 labor a point that the reality can not be known and the ego of everyone is uncertain. Part 2 elaborate on the fact that everyone can not control his fate. First, everybody can not free himself from some strong force. Second, one person's fate can be changed by an accidental thing in a flash. Part 3 mainly discuss the disharmony between people. In Pirandello's works, we know clearly that the relation between people is going form bad to worse. The play"Six Characters in Search of an Author"clearly reveal the reason of the disharmony. First, everyone has his values and views something at a different angle. Second, each person is changeable. When we look at others, we only understand their one aspect. In other words, our view is one-sided. The main content of Part 4 is that the characters try to find a hole to creep out. They try in vain to find a way out by wearing the mask, hankering art, making an approach to the nature and committing suicide. They see no way out whether they revolt or not. Finally, I draw a conclusion. People's survival situation is the survival predicament. People feel puzzled and perplexed in spirit. They are in a hopeless situation. They don't know what course to take. They have nowhere to go.
