If Liang Xiao–sheng's novels are divided into two periods , something true can be seen distinctly.1980s is his pre-period during which Liang Xiao-sheng describes the"zhi qing"whole-heartedly .From 1990s on , Liang Xiao–sheng gradually fixes his eyes upon the rigorous social reality and the silent majority—the subaltern class . Through the portrayal of character and the revelation of bosom in these common figures, he demonstrates his incisive observations and profound meditations upon the social reality, his cultural solicitude and moral concern for the weak groups who live in the lowest class of the society. the feature of Liang Xiao-sheng's narration about the subaltern class is distinctive comparably and the attitude and the pose of writing is precious, while critics have always maintained a rare silence about it. Some of the remarks are focused upon the exploration of its ideological contents, but the concern for its unique article characteristics can be rarely seen. Therefore an analysis seen through the author's creating idea and his psychology is necessary and important. The reason, the choice of the subject material and the characteristics of the theme, the portrayal of the images about the subaltern class and the social significance they carry, the peculiarities of its language and literary style and so on will be discussed. Not only the significance but also the shortcoming is worth thinking and studying.
