As an important part of language teaching, tests can not only evaluate students'achievements and language ability, but also offer helpful diagnostic assessments. However, C.TEST does not provide examinees with detailed information about assessments. In this study, the above gap is filled with Rule Space Model (RSM), and results of 852 examinees in listening comprehension items of C.TEST are analyzed. Firstly, according to the opinions of 3 experts and 12 graduate students, and the review of relevant literature, the author identifies 9 micro-skills from 18 items. Secondly, those students are divided into 68 different groups according to their attribute-mastery patterns (for 2-plm: 97%; for 3-plm: 82%) with RSM. Then, this author provides examinees with diagnostic assessments for their listening abilities, and provides teachers and test designers with some useful feedback. This study is expected to contribute to the development of C.TEST diagnostic assessment in future.
