Since the 60's of 20th century, Constructivism theory is gradually widely accepted in western countries, it is the latest teaching and learning theories of western educational psychology. Constructivists advocate: Learning is a"learner-centered"process of constructing meaning actively; they emphasize: the initiative, sociality, and situatedness. In the whole learning environment, students'enthusiasm and creative spirit should be developed. At the very beginning of this century, learner autonomy has attracted the attention of researchers and language teachers. Thus many self-access language learning centers have been built to improve learners'autonomy and positivity. Educators and language teachers have done many researches on the positive effect of self-access center, but few pay attention to the limits of it.The author made an investigation in the self-access language learning center in Chongqing University. The author interviewed and observed the learners in the self-access language learning center, and designed a constructivism-based questionnaire. The questionnaires were given out to 120 subjects randomly selected from the self-access language learning center. Through the analysis and study of the data, the author found that there were limits in the self-access language learning center in terms of inspiring the learners'ability of autonomous learning. Finally the author tries to put forward a new application mode of self-access language learning center based on the constructivist learning theory. This research is hoped to bring about some contributions to the constructions and consummation of self-access language learning center in Chongqing University.
