"Sorrow" is an area of ancient aesthetics, Lyrical Volume said" a person who is sorrow, his sound is sad; when he is cheerful, his sound is pleasing" This indicates that the aesthetics of music depends on the person's spiritual activities. However, the characteristics of "sorrow" of Mongolian short tone folk song are not only reflected by the form of music, further more, the contents of a song, this forms the fundamental aesthetic feature of Mongolian narrative short tone folk song.This article regards Mongolian narrative short tone folk song as research object and focus on its inner tragic factor so as to make further in-depth study of Mongolian ethnic aesthetic traditions as well as regularly explain the inheritance and development of it. First, we trace the tragic aspect of Mongolian short tone folk song basing on three forms of music when they were in the period of hunting on the mountain to understand its evolution. And then we elaborate the reason of shaping Mongolian narrative short tone folk song's tragically aspect according to ecological environment, way of producing, national history, and cultural tradition .Third, analyzing the Mongolian narrative short tone folk song at the dimension of material and form of music. Finally, we sort it into different types and clarify its features in terms of Mongolian narrative short tone folk song's tragically aspect.Through analyzing the tragically aspect of Mongolian narrative short tone folk song, we hope to inspire the music writers historically and aesthetically and provide them with rich resources of creating in order to expand the development of Mongolian music, thereby, promoting cultural consciousness and social play of creating ethnic music. In addition, it can enrich the theory of musical culture of grassland by analyzing the Mongolian narrative short tone folk song from the perspective of different disciplines and different angles.
