Through calculation and analysis, it compared 449 one meaning-twosyllables-adjective with parentheses in the fifth edition of TheContemporary Chinese Dictionary with 406 adjectives of the same kind inthe third edition of this dictionary. It is found that there are some differencesbetween them in terms of quantity, contents and patterns of the informationin the parentheses.The 449 one meaning-two syllables-adjective with parentheses in the fifthedition of The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary are classified againaccording to the contents of the information in the parentheses on the base ofanalysis of the necessity and feasibility.It then compared the information in the parentheses with the collocations inthe real language environment, to see whether they are same or not, andfound out the causes.At last, two pieces of advice are made towards the information in theparentheses of adjectives in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary.
