AbstractChina is a country which lacked the character of physical tradition; the societyhas been strongly influenced by the concept of quietness for a relatively long periodthat our education system lost the physical education during that time. After theOpium War, with the spread of western culture, the thoughts of hygiene and sportswere taken to China. Young Men's Christian Association and missionary schools suchas St.John's College firstly start some kinds of sports. Compared with western, Qinggovernment's inferior position stimulated the ethos of "self-improvement". Chinesebegan to learn science, politics, and physical training from western countries andJapan. Meanwhile, they had also started to struggle against the dishonor of" sick manof east Asia". Such famous officials and philosophers as Zhidong, Zhang; Kunyi, Liu;Fu, Yan and Qichao, Liang make every effort to these revolutions. However, fromChinese clerisy's thoughts and behaviors, we can see that their understanding aboutphysical concepts had been changed from the basic level in the period of 1840-1904.In conclusion, from KueiMao Education System in 1904, Chinese clerisy had beennever satisfied with the "moving slowly" morbidity.
