There's no doubt that cultural factors play an important role in economic development, but we don't know how the former influences the latter exactly. This thesis will try to answer this question. In the first chapter, the thesis describes the inner relations of economic culture and economic development in three aspects and suggests that entrepreneurs, politicians, celebrities and religious leaders have strong influence in the process of values shaping. It demonstrates 15 dimensions of economic culture which are especially important to less developed countries, though the importance is different to the countries in different culture. In the second and third chapters, the thesis tries to explore the secrets of the culture factors of Japan. We will find out the changes of Japanese economic culture from Tokukawa era to 1990s and discover the secrets behind the economic boom in Japan. After that, the ways of economic development in Japan and America will be compared and analyzed. We will see the differences and what China can learn from them.At last, the thesis concludes four obstructive factors of cultural change and three characteristics of economic culture.
