There are five main parts in the literary concepts of Hu Lancheng. Firstly, utilize the Five General Principles from Nature and the traditions from Li(礼) and Yue(乐) as the ultimate criteria, and with the criteria to examine the historical literature climate. Secondly, "loyalty" and "fun" are the two most valuable spirits, which lay in the Literature from Shi(士) and Civilian(民). Thirdly, the literature from Shi must possess the noble spirit while bases on the knowing of Nature. At the same time, the Literature from Civilian can be more sensitive to the ongoing history, and further, these compositions can be more vigorous, and, fill full of joy and fun spirit. Fourthly, since all the literature compositions source from Nature, such as the articles can be used in deduce or not, the reasons can be poem, and the essay also can be narration. Therefore, it is difficult to clarify what is the Literature or Non-literature by the literary styles. In order to build the newly frame of Chinese modern literature, the first key is to recover the sense to Nature, and the aspiration of Shi.The literature concepts of Hu Lancheng are fully displayed in all of his works, especially in My Life, My Love and other literature criticism articles, which are the eflection of his concepts.The literature concepts and pursuit of Hu Lancheng fully reflect his humane and aesthetic philosophy which permeates his whole life.
