Ecocriticism is to probe into the relationship between literature and natural environment from an ecological perspective in the field of literature research. Although it is a brand-new literature criticism , it is rich in ideological resources. China, with its long-standing philosophy and traditional culture, embraces abundant ecological and cultural ideologies. Furthermore, the ecological and cultural ideologies in western traditional works, especially in Marxism's classics have enriched contemporary ecocritical theory tremendously. The relationship between man and nature is an eternal subject and ecocriticism has provided those who are doing research on it with a very good perspective. It focuses on how nature is reflected in literary text, what role nature plays in literary works, whether there is a harmonious relationship between man and nature and how man's attitude and behaviour towards nature are affected by his thought, culture and mode of social development.Ecocriticism not only studies ecological writers and their works, but also reads through and reappraises the anti-ecological writers and their works.Ecocriticism plays a part in the creation and guidance of contemporary ecological literature and practical writing. Both ecological literature criticism and practical writing intend to cultivate the sense of ecological responsibility, to slow down and eliminate ecological crises, to keep ecological balance and man's transmission of generation and to construct a harmonious relationship between man and nature.
