| The study of compound sentences is an important field in Chinese grammar research, which has got a lot of concerns. There are also many articles about the co-ordinative compound sentences and its relative particles. Based on the former study , we firstly discuss the relative particles such as "yibian","yitou" and "yimian" in co-ordinative compound sentences . By the diachronic researching , we find that "yibian","yitou", "yimian" which are used as location words at first in early modern Chinese , became hard-wireing as a relative particles of co-ordinative compound which means two activities happen together, under the machanism of metaphor and syntactic iconicity .We have a dialect description and detailed analysis about it in this paper. Secondly ,among the four main relative particles in the paper , "yitou","yibixiang"are hardly used in modern Chinese ,while "yibian","yimian" have become the mainly used relative particles . We give some explanations on this phenomenon from the dialect distribution and language policy. Thirdly ,the thesis analyzes the syntactic functions and semantic relations of the co-ordinative compound sentences which begin with the relative particles "yibian", "yitou","yimian" and so on , discusses the use of those relative particles—when there are used in pairs and singly . This thesis also makes comparisons with the similar sentence patterns in Chinese and English. |
