BaJin is not only a great writer who has won the world influence, but also a very peculiar literary phenomenon in the Chinese contemporary literature history .His works have inspired thousands upon thousands readers .The influence is so wide that it is very exceptional in the country .The thesis points out many-sided senses and some deliberations of the key word "death" .Thereby, we'll have a variety understanding of the meaning of BaJin's works.The thesis includes five parts.The first part is introduction. It simply summarized the manifestations of the "death" in BaJin's novels, and analyzed its position in the literary history.The second part, "death of the human body" , emphatically pointed out the subjective reasons and the objective reasons that had caused the death of the human body in the novels.The third part and the fourth part are respectively the "death" of consciousness and the "death" that suggested by something or somebody. The two parts pointed out that as a successor of LuXun's spirit, BaJin as well described many kinds of "death" incisively and vividly, and gave "death" many new meanings except its original meaning.The fifth part, from the author's own thought and disposition, inquired into characters in BaJin's novels how to take measures while facing with "death" . Also, there is a relationship with these characters' destiny.In the end, pointed out once more that "death" has taken a very important place in BaJin's novels.
