The Traditional Foundation

Folklore, as a kind of oral spreading literature pattern, is created by ordinary people and full of wisdom. There are abundant folklore resources in China, but they are always ignored by us, because we focus too much on the economic benefit and technologic reform in the modern society. However, children, as the future of the nation, have responsibility to know something about their traditional culture. It is good and meaningful for them to form national personalities. When is popular in China, we have to think about our children's literature, and must ask ourselves why we couldn't create that kind of excellent tale. In this paper, we discuss the relationship between folklore and children's literature, and make a conclusion that folklore could be the foundation of children's literature, and also could apply the nutrition for creating works of children's literature.
