AngLee is the famous film Chinese-born director with great honor in the wholly world. He had been garnered International acclaim to find critical and commercial success on both sides of the Pacific. He is the only one who got Oscar medal till now among the Chinese-born directors. His movie is always related to the impact and amalgamation from west and east culture .He can deal it with very well easily. He can melt Chinese traditional culture into the story plot while thinking about the taste of people with different background .The balance was taken well between the west and the east culture, art and commerce, tradition and modernization.Research will be done on the encoding working about the movie Anglee directed under the direction of the theory of encoding/decoding from Stuart Hall.The thesis is made up with four parts. It is the support for the other ones .Signification of sign-vehicle is limited by the frameworks of knowledge of one who encodes .The chapter Three is the core of the whole context. the film Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon will be discussed as a case under the direction the encoding/decoding theory .It will be discussed in another perspective from the Chinese and west culture ;Encoding/Decoding; denotative /connotation; the dominant preferring way reading. Some research about the encoding about Anglee's film will be also emphasized on the prefer way reading in the chapter Four .The motion pictures of Angle's will be do some research as a encoding text from the mass communication .the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon will be as a encoding case to be analyzing under the support of theory of encoding/decoding from Stuart Hall, especially the encoding theory.
