He analyzed the source of traditional philosophy from the perspective of history and social psychology. In Dewey's point of view, philosophy has it's origin from ordinary life instead of from the need of cognitive word. We should deal with all kinds of uncertainty through operating the wisdom of life, and thereby we can grasp the uncertainty of human being's fate. Influenced by Hegel and Darwin, Dewey made a revolution of traditional philosophy: using experience and change instead of transcendent and absoluteness; concerning human life instead of the material itself. He combines the theory and the objectivity from the angle of reality, reasonably deals with the relationship between science and philosophy, and suggests finding the certainty from the perspective of knowledge and practice He also introduces the experiment into the understanding of the nature of human being, emphasizing the humanism. Though Dewey's philosophy has been criticized by many other traditional philosophers for its extent of rebelling against orthodoxy goes beyond the tolerance of traditional philosophers, the purpose of his new perspective of philosophy and culture is to find out a new way for the development of philosophy and to some extent, it's helpful for us to reconsider and confirm the character, function, status and effect of philosophy in today's society. This thesis discusses Dewey's revolution of traditional philosophy from the aspects of its logical starting point, rationale, character and theoretical gain and loss. The thesis is composed of seven chapters.-Chapter one is the literature review.
