Shi Xiaoyou is a writer in Song Dynasty. All his works we can read today are just a poem and a Ci collection called"Jin Gu yi yin". Therefore we generally limit him as an author of Ci at present. The Ci he created is more than 150 in number, but this didn't make him famous enough in Ci field, so the existing records have little information about him. We can only find some information in his own works, that he was born in the late of Northern Song Dynasty and live in poverty as well as loneness. He is too old when he succeeds in the imperial examinations in the second year of Qian Dao in the Southern Song Dynasty. He was so persistent on officialdom, but it can rarely be reflected in his works. His works are mostly about love which is the traditional themes of Ci. He may whine about his unacknowledged place occasionally in some works which written for relieving feelings or telling the misery in traveling for official position, but nothing about the current affairs. He also has some works for social events and festival and custom. Although not all of them are perfect, some are excellent and worth reading. He is good at line drawing practices. Sometimes he uses it so well that wins the praise "Not a word, the best of description". He also intends to draw on poetry writing techniques, for example, the Duiju can be seen everywhere in his Ci and have various forms. Especially, you can read a few wise and witty sentences among them. He also tries the methods of Jiju and DuMuqiao in his writing practices, and achieves good results. Some of his Ci are elegant and some are popular, and there are many good works in both of the two styles. This situation has a close relationship with the era and the territory he lived in. He experienced a trend of writing SuCi in the late Northern Song Dynasty. When in the calling for resumption of the YaCi in the Southern Song Dynasty, he choose to learn from the genre of"Yan Ou Xiao Lin". This paper is intended to have a further comprehensive study in Shi Xiaoyou's life and works in order to make a contribution to the integrality of history of the Ci. In addition, I really hope that I can provide a bit of information to the researchers who focus on the SuCi creation in the late Northern Song Dynasty as well as on the authors of Ci in Jiangxi.
