A Study On Aspects Of Yanshan Dialect In Jiangxi Province

This dissertation is concerned with the aspectual system in Yanshan dialect, investigating the diverse representations and syntactic structures of the different aspects in Yanshan dialect by way of description and comparison. The thesis consists of the following four sections.Section 1 analyses the phonetic system of Yanshan dialect by analyzing the initial consonants, vowels and tones. Section 2 reviews the previous studies on the aspects in Mandarin Chinese and the grammatical studies in Yanshan dialect. In the following part, it defines the aspects of Yanshan dialect. And at last, it elaborates the significance and approach of this research. Section 3 describes 11 aspects in Yanshan dialect in detail, including the grammatical meaning, representation and syntactic structures. Section 4 analyses the grammaticalization of some of the aspect markers in Yanshan dialect.
