Agriculture is the lifeline of the national economy in Vietnam. Since the 1980s, great achievements have been produced in the agricultural reform, in which the reform on cooperative has held an important part and the research on the agricultural cooperative means a lot to the reality. The development of its agricultural cooperative has experienced an uneven and long course. Based on the conclusion of the previous researches on the reform of its cooperative and combined with the ongoing reform on the agricultural cooperative, this thesis comprehensively utilizes various methods like literature and investigation researches to explore and discuss the history of its agricultural cooperative, the current development situation and the future development prospect through the analysis of general planning and the specific cases.Currently, disputes still exist among the issues on whether to continue the reform on cooperative or how to develop it in the academic and theoretical circle of China and Vietnam. By research, we come to the conclusion that Vietnam, a developing country with less land and big population, needs to have a division of labor as well as cooperation in order to improve its agricultural labor productivity at the maximum and keep conformity with the trend of commercialized production, even if there are some defects. After the debut of "the Law on Cooperative", the development of its cooperative has moved to the right direction and some achievements have already been made. Although there are a few problems needed to be solved, they should not be the excuses for the surrival of the cooperative. Its development is in the need of the historical trend and meets the requirements of Vietnam's industrialization and modernization of its agriculture and its countryside. The agricultural cooperative will play an important role in its national economy.
