The Study On Lu Brocade And Its Application In Modern Fashion Design

Lu Brocade, the short name for folk brocade of southwest Shandong, is mainly produced in two areas of Shandong Province, Heze and Jining. Called for "Si Ge Zeng" or "Ba Ge Zeng" in local area, Lu Brocade is colored cotton folkweave with exquisite pattern, and it is woven with weaving machine and colorful cotton yarn as warp and weft yarn by peasant women. With a long history and a strong local folk art characteristic, Lu Brocade is one part of our traditional folk culture. But at present, as the traditional handwork brocade with rich regionalism, Lu Brocade is undergoing very big impact and being on the verge of disappears. The material about Lu Brocade is relatively less, and the relevant research is concentrated around folk art field. Therefore, the purpose of this dissertation is excavating and refining Lu Brocade's artistic value, opening up its developing and applying field, combining the age-old traditional folk handicraft with modern society and culture fad intensely, and giving it the new vigor and value. This dissertation adopt many methods, including document inquiry, survey on the spot, material object making and design application, to analysis and study the following four aspects about Lu Brocade, Lu Brocade's historical setting, Lu Brocade's form characteristic, Lu Brocade's current situation and Lu Brocade's application method in modern fashion design. And among them, the analysis of Lu Brocade's form characteristic and Lu Brocade's application in modern fashion design are the key point of the dissertation.The conclusion of the dissertation mainly includes that: Lu Brocade embodies the regional culture characteristic of southeast Shandong and records the form of living and consciousness trajectory of local people; the handing down by oral instruction is the representative popular characteristic; Lu Brocade 's contexture handicraft has the decisive effect to its appearance; Lu Brocade's geometry lattice pattern characteristic is distinct; Lu Brocade's application method in modern fashion design can be summed up as the direct application, indirect application and the recreation applies, and these three kinds of methods are mutually independent, mutual connection and progressive procedures.
