This paper conducts a research on the sylloge of Ming Dynasty poems: Poems of the Great Ming. The author in this thesis attempts to inquire into the compiler, background, versions, causes of compiling, main theme, compiling standards and style, contents, selecting process of the poems as well as the characteristics of compilation in terms of philology. Based on the above-mentioned research, the compiler's views on literature embodied in the process of compiling and the value and influence of the Anthology will also be made.The compiling of Poems of the Great Ming coincided with an era of the thriving of different literature schools, among which, the school of the Seven Talented Poets was the most important. The idea of"Adoring Han, Admiring Tang", especially the"Admiring Tang"bias, was clearly manifested throughout the compiling, which was not only caused by the personal factor of the compiler, Yu Xian, but also related to the background of the literature practices, the prevalent idea of literature, and especially the tremendous influence of the Previous Seven Talented Poets and the Later Seven Talented Poets.
