The number of Chinese synonyms in ancient Chinese is rich, which is one of the symbol that the language of Chinese is well developed. The accurate use of synonyms can make the language in literary works more precise. But the correct discrimination and the clarifying of the synonyms in ancient Chinese research remains a big headache. Most of the research only generally pointed out which phrases are synonyms and their similarities and differences, which is the synchronical study.This article oberserved five synonyms in ten pre-qin works, namely"Confusion analects","the Book of change","Zhuangzi","Annals of zuo","Mencius","Zhou li","Yili","Lvshichunqiu","Laozi",trying to make an objective distinguish of their usage. The conclusion we had is this article not only affirmed our predecessor's certain judgements, but also corrected some one-sided views, which can provide some insights for the ancient Chinese study, for the research and sorting out of the ancient books, which is also of certain academic values for the study of Chinese glossary history and that of ancient Chinese synonyms.
