Study On Song Dynasty Imperial College Educational Management

Song Imperial College, the main part of the development ofCentral School Official at that time, played an important rolein the history of the educational development of the South—Song and North—Song Dynasties. It was the source ofeducating people. At the early of the North—Song Dynasty, therulers attached importance to Imperial Exam, neglecting thearrangement and development of Song Imperial College, owningto the restrictions of the wars and economics. It was not untilthe middle of the North—Song Dynasty that the rulers graduallyrealized the importance that the school educated people.Thereafter, Song Imperial College sprung up as the decrease ofCentral School Official—Imperial Academy after the rule ofQingli New Deal. It gradually replaced Imperial Academy andbecame the main part of Central School Official. Song ImperialCollege reached the unprecedented scale, with 3,800 studentsat the end of North- Song Dynasty. Though the North—SongDynasty located far from Jianyan, the set-up and developmentof Song Imperial College also was got the important attention.This paper attempts to comprehensively analyze themanagement institutions, school officials system, teachersystem, student system, and teaching system of the education management in Song Imperial College by flexibly adopting theresearch approaches of history, pedagogies, and politics toreveal the achievements and shortcomings of the educationalmanagement in Song Imperial College. The paper includesintroduction and the body.In the introduction, we briefly presented the objects, theresearch method, the theoretical framework and practicalsignificance of this paper. In addition, a relevant literaturereview of the topic is included in this part.The body is divided into four chapters. The first chapterdiscusses the origin of arrangement of Song Imperial College,including three parts. In the first part, we dated back thearrangement of Song Imperial College. The second part of thischapter dissertates the reason of the arrangement from threeaspects——the politics factors, the decease of School officials,training people to stress the importance of initiating SongImperial College. The last part illustrates the development ofSong Imperial College.Chapter two addresses the setup of the management systemof Song Imperial College. It includes the setup of Ministry ofRites in feudal China and official name and duties, of ImperialAcademy (the field of educational arrangement, official system and attribution of person and duties) and official system (thename of official duty, and main duties.).Chapter three addresses the educational managementactivities. This chapter is the main part of the whole paper.In the first part of this chapter, we pointed out that the ruleof arrange of teacher in Song Dynasty tented to be norms as wellas stressed on the importance of the quality of the teachersto educate the students from the angels of Song Imperial-Collegeteachers' Eligibil restrictions, the selection, the terms ofappointment and the professional requirement. The second partillustrates the arrangement of students, including students'source, the terms of study, the students treatment etc, showingthat Song Imperial College shifted to stress the students'morality and the intellectual that improve the social basis ofthe power of Song Dynasty. In the following part interprets theeducational teaching system of Song Imperial College,including the setup of the course content, the teachingapproach, the exam system and.so on in order to show that theycarried out the reform and innovation either in choosing theteaching material or in the teaching methods and to show thatthe rulers attempted to get rid of the restrictions of thesystem of Imperial Exam and made the students practice their knowledge on reality.Chapter four addressed the educational management of SongImperial College. In this chapter, from the angle of therelationship of the education of Song Imperial College andpolitics, we illustrated Song Imperial College had beeninfluenced by the political factors. But it had made greatcontributions. It treated a great number of people for thecountry and guarded the respect of the country when the countrywas impacted and came into crisis.
