With the development of commodity economy in Late-Ming Dynasty, the social structure and people's living style and consuming attitude have been changed much, which resulted in people's interests in reading popular novels. The writers of popular novels stress much on characterization, plot and narrative of novels, by this way to cater to reader's interests in reading popular novels, one kind of cultural commodity. Reader's interests, to certain extent, influence the novel writing.The Journey to the West reflects the reader's interests and displays a new trend of popular novel esthetics, which is the estrangement in reading interests, the transition from instruction to entertainment, and the novel writing just for amusement. The tendency in writing represents the improvement of novel writing and speed up the development of novels from mere teaching to more popular and interesting.With the reader's various interests, the writers, add the interpretation and iconography in novels, which enriched the reading interest and reading style in Late Ming Dynasty. Meanwhile, many novels have been adapted to opera in order to cater for reader's interests.The transition of reader's interest has great influences on novels writing, so does the novel esthetics. The strange style of The Journey to the West represents the influence from reader's interest and transition of novel esthetics.
