The paper takes Zhou Zuoren's individual annotation to "Analects of Confucius" in1930's as a point of penetration, probes into Zhou Zuoren's modern thought displayed inthe process of expounding the canon, which is the complicated relationship between thefreedom of thought, the independent individuality in the individualism and "The Doctrineof Mean", Human feelings and physics in the Confucian learning. Meanwhile, It wieldshermeneutics' theory appropriately, and attaches importance to the theory ken , valueexpecting and cultural psychology in the process of expounding "Analects of Confucius".As a case, the paper is supposed not onlyto provides a practical feasible hermeneutic routeto reseach Zhou Zuoren's thought world in 1930's, but also to attempt to enter theproblem in traditional and modern thought in modern intellectuals.
