The Research On Phrases Of Rhetorical Figure Used As Compound Complement In Artistic Style

Of linguistics both rhetoric and grammar belong to different branches which arerelatively independent and interdependent, so that the internal relations betweenthe two must be highly thought of. The artistic style, one of the most primarystyles, reflects the social life in artistic image. And the major function of rhetoricalfigure is to turn the language more vivid. Referring to the language materials withan approximate figure of 5.87 million words in artistic style, this thesis pursues acomprehensive study on the Phrases of Rhetorical Figure used as complement(compound complement), which draws conclusions from much discussion on it.The thesis analyzes the utilization of it from two ways, the grammar structureand the semantic characteristics, and then studies the representative functionand the unique pragmatics value of it. Also, the thesis makes a comparisonbetween the phrases of rhetorical figure used as compound complement and theones of rhetorical figure used as adverbial, to reveal the internal relations of bothrhetoric and grammar.
