The Study On Wang Shixing's Travel Notes

Traveling in Ming Dynasty was so prevailing that there appeared many famous travelers and traveling writers. As an outstanding representative, Wang Shixing relates his life closely to the tour, who visited 14 out of 15 provinces through out the country and left behind abundant traveling literary works. His works feature in scenic spots, strategic places, folk custom, slang & dialect and organic integration of scientific investigation into travel notes. This paper, by studying Wang Shixing in the background of the whole travel literature history and travel history, aims at a deep analysis of Wang Shixing's travel literature.The paper consists of four parts. Chapter One is the biography of Wang Shixing. In this chapter, the time, cause and route of Wang Shixing's travel will be introduced in accordance with his literature works, and his view on travel will also be analyzed.In Chapter Two, an analysis of the content and idea of Wang Shixing's travel notes will be carried out: the poetic description of natural landscape, the reappearance of the humanistic landscape and the outstanding representative of travel notes that are of scientific investigation.Chapter Three analyzes artistic character of Wang Shixing's travel notes, which feature vivid description of peculiar scenery, integration of real situation and penetrating judgement, abundant cultural association and concise & graceful words.Chapter Four first compares Wang Shixing's travel notes with those of the comtemporary traveling writers, which gives prominence to the distinctness of the former in content, form and artistic techniques. Secondly, the chapter, from the perspective of aesthetic character, creation mode and breach in content & style, narrates the role of Wang Shixing's travel notes in the inheritance & development of travel literature history. At the end of this chapter, the literary value of Wang Shixing's travel notes will be elaborated.
