Disputes over the author of The Dream of the Red Chamber lasted for a long time but came to no result. This article will study this question by researching scenical description in fore-and-aft 80th chapters of The Dream of the Red Chamber mainly from contemporary writing aesthetics and writing thinkingology, and by revealing its fore-and-aft similarities and differences of the author's aesthetic trend, writing custom, rhetoric style in language, manner of writing and diction. The first research way is classification analytical method: above all, range and count all the scenical description, then fall into six species according to their different functions and analyse aesthetic character and writing customs of each species'manner of writing and diction at last.Writing aesthetical analysis of scenical description of each species reveals that, on aesthetic modality, although scenical description of each species in the former 80 chapters leans to elegancy and that of the latter 40 chapters leans to sublimity, development and change from elegancy to sublimity have already begun in the former 80 chapters and intensifies gradually, which adapts itself to development and change of the content. Lyricism species classification research shows that emphasis is put on similar thinking both in fore-and-aft 80th chapters. Ambience species classification research shows that the author is not only good at using repetitive forming thinking to extensively strengthen, intensify and clear about the rendering circumstance and environment by choosing several objects with a combination of quiescence and movement, sound and color, vision and reality, but also good at using contrastive forming thinking to build up of infection of (reactive) atmosphere by choosing objects with opposite character, meaning or emotion to exaggerate atmosphere contrarily. Since repetitive forming thinking must be used in every articles and contrastive forming thinking is not necessarily, the use of contrastive forming thinking is the most distinct character of this sort of scenical description. The second research way is individuality research of scenical description: above all, range all scenical descriptions without classification, then compare and analyse, and find out several individual scenical factors which appear mostly according to the frequency that the same descriptive objects appear: flowers, moon, wind and fragrance, finally, research similarities and differences of diction style and aesthetic trend of each descriptive objects in fore-and-aft 80th chapters. Analysis reveals that use of moon imago and moon description in fore-and-aft 80th chapters are similar to the utmost. In the former 80 chapters, there's a mass of description of flowers, or flowers and willows, nevertheless, there's comparatively less in the latter 40 chapters. In the latter 40 chapters, there are large quantities of imitative words used to describe winds, which make winds have a sense of movement, stronger and more irritative. However, in the former 80 chapters, there're almost no imitative words, clouds being thin and winds being gentle. Go on with aesthetical analysis of flowers, willows and winds, it turns up that the author's description of flowers, willows and fragrance, actually, is description of persons, many maids of Daguanyuan. There's much less description of flowers and willows, and winds are much stronger in the latter 40 chapters, which directly related to death or separation of lots of maids of Daguanyuan. Anyway, differences of description of flowers, willows and winds between fore-and-aft 80th chapters are adaptive to development of content, advancement of plot, deepening of content and gradual entrance of climax of the story, so the change is reasonable, natural and necessary. Both classification research and individuality research of scenical description in The Dream of the Red Chamber reveals that the author of the former 80 chapters and that of the latter 40 chapters should be the same person.
